". . . when the people who need . . ."
Call me crazy but the only people that won't need long term care are those who are already dead, no?

re: "Palin's death panel . . ." and the administration . . .
In the alternative, could it be that only people without a brain find the half-governors comments relevent?

You know I think it's pretty sad that we have to treat our kids like that. But it seems to be the only way to make them learn.

1. If married and spouse is sick.
a. ALL assets get thrown into the pot. It is not like a young divorce. Both of your parents inheritances will be subject to spend-down of the current marriage.
b. No monies is consider her or his it is all one in Medicaid eyes.
b. If either one of you are in a second marriage then you have kids coming into court saying "I don't want her!" If you get a judge like I did that stated.."if there is any contention in the family at all the guardian and conservatorship (G/C) goes to a third party." And the third party G/C then comes in and takes all income and I have no say about the husbands care. Also the husband would not put the house into my name because of the fears of going through the first divorce. Now I am stuck with the G/C telling me they will take the home of 25 years and all the accounts because he did not put my name on anything and yet they want me to take care of him. Yet now that he is dead. I am responsible for all the his bills. He died before Medicaid had to kick in. Then the other spiritual questions that believers have to deal with...what about the vows we took on this side and the other side. The end result is the G/C and attorneys took the money and I am left $300,000.00 short! Been there and have been RAPED by the court and guardian and conservator and the blended family issues!

Good information.

We'll know the country is serious about several things, including healthcare reform and deficit reduction, when the people who need the long term care insurance actually buy it.

No one has mentioned that so far that I recall in discussing healthcare reform. But after Palin's death panel claims, I can't blame the Obama administration for that omission.
